Hi, I’m Amy Snelling

I’ve been a personal trainer for 5 years. Before that I was a primary school teacher but decided to turn my love of fitness into a career. Teaching was ok, but developing a connection with people across the globe and helping them realise their potential, all from the comfort of my own home, is EPIC.

Early on in my fitness career, I realised that there are many things holding people back from achieving their goals and that’s what I’m here to help you with.

If you find the gym intimidating, I can help you find a way to reach your goals in other environments.

If you don’t like burpees, I’ll never program them.

If you’re nervous about exercise, we’ll start slowly.

Even if you absolutely hate exercise but recognise it is a useful tool to manage pain and to feel better, there is something we can do together to make that feel less daunting.

Because your goals are the most important thing to me.

Am I the trainer for you?

My clients come from all different backgrounds and have all had different experiences with exercise in their lives. If any of the following statements reflect your experiences, then you are someone I can help!

  • You hated PE in school and had really bad experiences around movement growing up so now you struggle with finding consistency.

  • You don’t feel comfortable entering gyms or other fitness spaces.

  • You feel confused about fitness and are never sure if you’re doing the right thing.

  • You love exercise but there’s currently a barrier standing in your way, whether that’s injury and pain, or family and work commitments.

  • You’ve reached a plateau in your training and you’re struggling to make the progress you want to see.

  • You’re now pregnant or early postpartum and not sure how to continue or start exercising safely.

I offer a range of different services to suit all budgets. There’s upright pricing on all of my coaching and personal training sessions with sliding scale options and bundle discounts available.

What kind of exercises do I coach?

I coach all kinds of movements depending on your goals.

If your goal is to exercise more and you’re happy for me to take the lead on your session, I’ll start by programming a variety of exercises.

If you have specific goals like returning to running after having a baby or you want to do the gardening again after shoulder surgery, I’ll program exercises specific to these skills that work around any barriers that are standing in your way.

If you’ve been discharged by a physio and you’re not sure where to begin in progressing the exercises you were doing, I will program exercises to build upon what you’ve already achieved so far.

What is personal training?

When most people think about personal trainers they’re probably thinking about 12 week transformations with before and after photos, gruelling workouts and unsustainable diets. That couldn’t be further from the experience you’ll get when you work with me.

You’ll always be treated as an individual, with your workouts and program tailored to your goals. This is particularly important if you’re working around barriers like previous injury or pain.

There will be no quick fixes, you’ll get the support you need to build long lasting habits and move in ways that you find accessible and enjoyable. If anything isn’t working, we problem solve together to find a new solution.

How do I help people in pain?

I use my knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy and pain science to understand what your body is trying to communicate. I thoroughly research your condition and use this to plan fitness sessions unique to you and your goals.

I use the process of skill development to program exercises that will work your body through multiple planes of movement - just like you move in every day life! This is how you’ll build a strong and resilient body.

We might need to adapt and change things as we go and it might be hard work, but we will work together and around your pain so that you can reach your goals.

What makes me evidence based?

Many trainers like to claim that they’re evidence based these days, usually to sell a method or position themselves as an expert.

There are no absolutes in fitness, nutrition or health despite many trainers claiming they have the ‘best exercise’ to achieve x or y. This is dishonest and does you, as a client, a huge disservice.

For me, being evidence based means that I fully research your condition or questions using research papers of a certain standard.

I do not rely on blogs or other professionals in my industry to get my information from. It’s important to me that research is the right quality and free from bias.

This research then acts as a guide for your program. Again, there are no absolutes so I use it as a starting point to work from.

Your lived experience and individual preferences are also at the forefront of any behaviour change or movement strategy we put in place.

We form a team that’s working together towards the same goals.
